Meetings this week

(Clinton) -- Tuesday morning council meeting agenda amended to include the city administrator search issue

The Clinton County Board of Supervisors have their regular Monday morning meeting in the Board Office of the County Administration building. The meeting will start at 9:15.

Among the items on the agenda is a “meet and greet” session at 10 a.m. with area legislators. Starting at 11:15 a.m. the Board will discuss security at the County Administration building.

-------------------------

The Fulton City Council meets Monday in a business session. The meeting starts at 5:30 at city hall.

-----------------------

Members of the River Bend School Board will meet at 6:30 Monday evening. A public hearing on a tax levy for the Fulton, Illinois based district will be held and then the regular business meeting. The board also has a special meeting on Tuesday-December 18th for a budget planning session; Superintendent Chuck Holliday will present the revenue and expenditures for the fiscal year 2014. Potential budget cuts will be considered; but no budget cut decisions will be made at that session.

----------------------------

The Eastern Iowa Community College Board meets tonight (Monday) in Muscatine. The Board oversees the Clinton, Scott County and Muscatine Community Colleges.

-----------------------

The Clinton City Council has the final business meeting of the year on Tuesday morning. The session will begin at 9 A-M. Only a few action items are on the agenda.

In a committee of the whole session following the business meeting the council will consider the proposal from the Clinton School District for the district to install a ‘gravity’ sewer line to the Mill Creek sewer connection from the site of the new middle school with limited city funding. That would be based on successfully obtaining ‘third party funding.’ That plan is different from the city’s plan for the city funded sewer line along 13th Avenue North from the school site at 13th Avenue North and 16th Street Northwest and the school district would have to construct a pump station to access the line. The council voted 3 to 3 on pursuing an agreement with the district at the last meeting and that puts the item on the next agenda.

The agenda was amended Monday to include a presentation by Human Resource Consultant Paul Greufe about the city administrator search. A majority of the council favored having the HR Consultant lead the search, but Mayor Mark Vulich was opposed and may veto the resolution or let it go into effect without his signature.

The council’ Internal Operations Committee meets on Tuesday after the council meeting. That committee will receive an update on commercial insurance and also review a template for the review of the city administrator and city attorney. The committee will also review the agreement with the Humane Society and the agency’s request for an increase in funding. There will also be an update on the status of utility billing.

-----------------

The Council’s City Services Committee meets on Wednesday at 2 pm. The committee will review an update on the demolition of properties in the city and continue discussions on the future direction of the marina.

-----------------

Members of the Northeast School Board meet Wednesday at 5 p.m. in the High School Auditorium in Goose Lake. A closed session is one item on the agenda for a update on the Whole Grade Sharing status from the Ahlers Law Firm. The closed session is to discuss strategy with Counsel in matters that are presently in litigation or where litigation is imminent where its disclosure would be likely to prejudice or disadvantage the body in litigation. Last week the new Easton Valley School Board, a merged East Central and Preston school districts, voted to inform the Northeast School that a whole grade sharing agreement with East Central would be cancelled-because the East Central District would no longer exist.

------

The Camanche School Board has a meeting on Wednesday. A couple of personnel actions and open enrollments are on the agenda.

---------------

Members of the DeWitt School Board will meet Wednesday. The Central Board will meet with area legislators State Senator Rita Hart and Representative Steve Olson at 5:30 and then start their business meeting at 6.

The board will consider consolidating the Transportation Director and Grounds Director positions and hear about ‘retirement incentive participants.’
