Suspect Counterfeit Currency
(Clinton) -- In the past couple of weeks a number of fake bills have shown up at Clinton businesses.
Clinton Police Department is issuing an alert about suspected counterfeit currency circulating in the community.
Police report that between December 20 and January 6th various business and financial institutions in Clinton have received suspected counterfeit currency. At least thirteen suspected counterfeit bills have been passed in denominations 10’s – 20’s and 50’s
Police issued some tips if you received a suspected fake bill – do not return in, but don’t put yourself in harms way.
Delay the person if possible and try to remember a description of the person and any companions and the license plate of any vehicle they used and to contact the local police and turn the bill over only to a properly identified law enforcement office.
