Bids for a new Clinton Middle School facility were approved-including the additional four classrooms the board hoped to add to help accommodate all three grades at the new building.
Randy Fuller of Estes Construction over saw the bids and said there were over 100 bids submitted for the various parts of the project. The total cost with the alternates was $20-million-900*thousand. Financial consultants have outlined to the district how the sales tax revenue would fund a 20-million dollar project and board members acknowledged the conservative estimates made moving ahead with the additional space with some additional cost one they believed was the right move now
School Board President Gregg Obren said the board has been conservative and believes the cost can be covered by the sales tasx
Construction officials say they would plan on some site work to start in March on the project site at the corner of 13th Avenue North and 16th Street Northwest.

The School Board also approved a list of retirements. With some last minute additions the list of employees taking advantage of the early retirement incentive grew to 19.
School officials said that was a higher number than they anticipated. Human Resource Director Jess Terrell said it would take a few more days to develop an estimate on how much the early retirements might save in cost.
Superintendent Deb Olson said ‘it will help’ in efforts to reduce expenditures in next year’s budget.
The plan would pay eligible retiree 650-dollars per year of employment with a cap of 16-thousand*250 dollars and the employee would be responsible for all taxes. The payments would be in two installments spread over two budget years for the district.
