Person killed in pedestrian vs. train incident
(Clinton County) -- Clinton County Sheriff's Office issues information about fatality incident near DeWitt-read the official statement
On 1-18-13 at 10:09 p.m. the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the Union Pacific rail crossing on 300th Ave., on the east edge of DeWitt, located approximately ½ mile north of Hwy 30, for a train vs. pedestrian collision. Upon arrival deputies located a white adult female that had been struck by a west bound Union Pacific train.
The female was pronounced dead at the scene by the Clinton County Medical Examiner’s Office. The body will be transported to the Iowa State Medical Examiner’s Office in Ankeny for an autopsy.
The incident remains under investigation by the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the DeWitt Police Dept., the Clinton County Medical Examiner’s office, Genesis Ambulance-DeWitt, Dewitt Fire Dept., and Union Pacific Railroad personnel.
