Record High
(Clinton) -- High today has been 61 and that breaks the record for January 29th.
The new record high for today will be in the books at 61 degrees. Clinton area weather observer Jim Blaess says the record January 29th had been 53 set in 1914.
He says this will be the 14th time since 1892 the temperature has been 60 or above in January. Blaess added that 5 of those times have been in the last 16 years.
The highest temperature in January was 67 recorded January 31st in 1989 and second would be 64 on January 27th in 1944. There are several times the high has been 61 or 62 among those 14 times.
The last time there was a 60 or higher reading in January in the Clinton area was 2008.
