Pay raises approved for elected officials
(Clinton) -- Clinton County Board lowers pay raise for their posts , but approves recommendations for other offices
Most elected officials in Clinton County will get a $2,500 pay raise as recommended by the County Compensation Board while the recommendation for the Supervisors was lowered.
The panel – chosen by the elected officials – recommends salaries for the elected officials and the board can accept the recommendation or lower it but can not increase it.
County Board member Brian Schmidt said the Compensation Board tries to get the salaries close the county rank in size of 11th and even with the increase most the elected officials will be below that ranking, But Schmidt said the County Board is close at number 12 in salaries and suggested lowering the county board recommended increase to $1,000 from the recommended $1,500. He said since the board has approved raises for that position that works out to about three percent or one-percent of the period.
The suggestion was approved by the board 3 to zero.
With the $2,500 pay raise the salaries would be:
Attorney:$101,438.00
Auditor:$63,328.00
Recorder:$61,593.00
Treasurer:$62,292.00
Sheriff:$83,875.00
With the $1,000 the pay for the county board members would be:
Supervisors:$38,504.00
Supervisor Chair:$39,704.00
