Garage Fire
(Clinton) -- Clinton Fire Department responds to garage fire call about 4 pm Thursday
An improperly installed wood burner is cited as the cause of garage fire. The Clinton Fire Department was called to 834 14th Avenue South about 4 o’clock yesterday (Thursday).
Fire fighters found the detached garage with smoke and fire showing from the doors and windows. It took about 30 minutes to bring the fire under control. The rear of the home and the garages on each side of the main fire received heat damage.
The occupant of the residence stated he had been working in the garage when he placed some wood in his wood burner and went inside the residence and noticed smoke coming from the garage. He did attempt to put out the fire but his extinguisher was empty and called 9-1-1.
The home owner and occupant are insured.
The Clinton Fire Department responded with a command vehicle, two engines, a ladder truck and three ambulances plus mutual aid from Camanche. The Clinton Police Department also assisted at the scene
