School Budget cuts proposed
(Clinton) -- Just under $900,000 in budget cuts are proposed to balance the Clinton School budget. Declining enrollment tied to declining state aid is cited as the cause. Link included to the detailed proposal
Various Clinton schools staff reductions through attrition and other reductions and higher back some positions at a lower rate have been proposed as a budget reduction proposal.
Superintendent Deb Olson outlined the proposal to make up an estimated $866,000 deficit. Olson said declining enrollment and the corresponding loss of state aid due to fewer students is the major reason the cuts are needed.
Olson’s proposal trims an estimated $894,000 from the expenses.
She asked the board to provide her input on the ideas…
School board president Greg Obbren added that the board should also look at the proposals long-term and not just for the next year.
