The Clinton City Council reviewed salary comparisons from other communities in the search for a new City Administrator. Paul Gruefe, who was hired by the city to lead the search met with the council in a meeting on Tuesday.
He said the discussion with the council was simply intended to provide general information regarding comparable salary levels so the council is aware, prior to negotiating compensation with the selected candidate. Greufe will return on March 12 to present further information.
Greufe tells KROS NEWS the search is going well, with 9 applications received so far. He expects many more will be received in the next 2 weeks. The deadline for accepting applications is March 8. Gruefe said the Search Committee will review all qualified applications and will convene a meeting on March 26 to determine who to interview. Interviews are scheduled for April 1 and 2 - following the interviews the Search Committee will forward finalists to the Council for consideration.
The consultant added that regarding compensation, the ad was placed stating "salary commensurate with experience"- that way the search is not restricted the recruitment based on salary. Prior to interviewing candidates, Greufe said he will have discussed the council's range on salary to ensure that we don't interview anyone we can't "afford".
The city is seeking to fill the position left vacant with the resignation of Jeffrey Horne last fall that came at the request of the council
