Meetings this week

(Clinton area) -- Clinton City Council one of the meetings of governmental bodies this week

The Clinton County Board of Supervisors will begin their weekly meeting at 9:15 a.m. today (Mon) in the Board Office of the County Administration building.

The Board will set a public hearing date of March 11th at 10 a.m. for public input on the proposed fiscal year 2013-2014 county budget.

Starting at 4 p.m. The County Board will attend a public hearing for the City Assessor’se fiscal year 2013 budget; the meeting will be held City Hall. That meeting will also involve representatives of the Clinton City Council and Clinton School Board.

Members of the Clinton Community School Board will meet at 5:30 this evening (Monday) as a “Committee of the Whole” at the Clinton Administration Center. Mark Bloom and teachers from Bluff Elementary School will share some of their support efforts at Bluff through a Response To Intervention program.

Also John Jorgensen will report to the Board on professional development within the district. A closed session will be held for the evaluation of the Superintendent of Schools.

The Clinton City Council has their regular meeting on Tuesday. Among the business items will be consideration of awarding bids for the demolition of eleven structures in the community. The council will also consider formal approval of a development agreement with the firm planning a rehabilitation project of the Wilson Building in the downtown.

During the committee of the whole the council will consider approval of the ‘request for proposal’ for animal impoundment as part of the city’s animal control program. The city failed to approve a renewal with the Clinton Humane Society and chose to seek new offers. At the discussion session the council will also hear the details of a cost of service and rate study of the city’s garbage collection.

The meeting starts at 7 pm.

The Camanche City Council meets Tuesday at 6 pm. Trevor Willis will be sworn into office after winning a special election to fill a vacancy on the council.

The Riverbend School Board has a couple of special meetings this week. On Tuesday the board of the Fulton, Illinois based school district will meet for the superintendent’s evaluation. On Thursday the Riverbend Board meets for a discussion about financial planning at personnel.

The City Services Committee of the Clinton City Council will meet at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Council chambers at City Hall. They will discuss improvements to a “courtesy” dock at 25th Avenue North. Also on the agenda is protocol for installing the flood gates at 9th Avenue North and Joyce’s Slough. Interim City Administrator Jessica Kinser will update the committee on “Vision Iowa” project maintenance and upgrade.

The Clinton Community School Board will meet at 5 o’clock Wednesday at the Clinton Administration building for a work session of the 2013-2014 budget.

Members of the Central Community School Board will meet at 6 Wednesday evening at the Administrative Center. Under unfinished business, they will be discussing proposed budget reductions.
