.A LARGE AREA OF EXCESSIVE HEAT OVER THE PLAINS WILL SPREAD INTO THE REGION TONIGHT AND THURSDAY. HOT TEMPERATURES...COMBINED WITH INCREASING HUMIDITY WILL LEAD TO DANGEROUS HEAT INDEX VALUES THURSDAY THROUGH THURSDAY NIGHT.

...EXCESSIVE HEAT WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM THURSDAY MORNING THROUGH FRIDAY MORNING...

* TIMING...VERY HIGH HEAT AND HUMIDITY WILL DEVELOP THURSDAY MORNING AND CONTINUE THROUGH MUCH OF THURSDAY NIGHT. CONDITIONS WILL BE MOST UNCOMFORTABLE...AND POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS FROM THE MID AFTERNOON TO EARLY EVENING HOURS.

* HEAT INDEX/TEMPERATURE...HIGH TEMPERATURES THURSDAY WILL RANGE FROM THE MID 90S TO JUST OVER 100. THESE VERY WARM TEMPERATURES...WHEN COMBINED WITH HIGH HUMIDITY...WILL RESULT IN LATE MORNING AND AFTERNOON HEAT INDEX READINGS AS HIGH AS 105 TO 110. VERY WARM AND MUGGY CONDITIONS WILL LINGER THROUGH THURSDAY NIGHT...WITH TEMPERATURES POSSIBLY STAYING ABOVE THE MID TO UPPER 70S THROUGH THE NIGHT.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

AN EXCESSIVE HEAT WATCH MEANS THAT A PROLONGED PERIOD OF HOT TEMPERATURES AND HIGH HUMIDITY IS POSSIBLE. THIS COMBINATION COULD CREATE A DANGEROUS SITUATION IN WHICH HEAT ILLNESSES ARE LIKELY. MONITOR LATER FORECASTS FOR UPDATED INFORMATION.
