Today (Friday) is ten days in a row of 90 or above temperatures and tomorrow with predictions of highs in the 90’s would make eleven days in row.
In a late afternoon development-The Clinton area reached 100 degrees this afternoon-official weather observer Jim Blaess says that’s the first triple digit reading since July 24th of 2005.
The record for today is 103 set in 1936
Clinton area weather observer Jim Blaess says it was July 1983 the last time there was eleven days in a row of temperatures in the 90’s.
In the current heat wave, Blaess says the highest temperature was 98 on July 4th and 5th.
Blaess added that 1936 is probably the record for consecutive days of highs of 90 and above. He says in July 1936 there were 16 days in a row and 13 of those days the highs were above 100.
