Cooler weather arrives
(Clinton) -- Sunday's cooler weather broke a string of eleven days of 90 or above. One record high tied in that period with 103 on Saturday.
On Saturday the high temperature in the Clinton area of 103 tied a record for the date set in 1936 and was the eleventh day in a row of 90 or above temperatures
Clinton area official weather observer Jim Blaess says the 103 degrees on Saturday was the hottest it has been since a 105 degree reading in July of 1940.
With Friday’s 100 degrees and Saturday’s 103 it was the first back-to-back days with 100 degrees since August 15th through August 17th in 1988.\
Blaess says that 1936 would still be the record for consecutive days of highs of 90 or above with 16-but he added that 13 of those days were above 100.
