A resident near the Clinton High School says the parking problems around here home is the works it’s ever been.
The Clinton City Council Rules and Regulations Committee met today with the parking issue on the agenda. Some residents raised some concerns at the committee meeting last month and input from the residents was sought.
The city received no comments in response to letters from the area residents, but a couple of residents did attend the meeting
One of those was Barbara Anderson of 950 South 10th Street who said the parking by students in the residential area is due to the school’s policies.
The committee decided to gather more information and will have the issue on the agenda for their meeting next month to determine if some type of parking restrictions should be instituted in the area around the high school.
The committee also started to review some proposed changes and updates to the animal control ordinance.
There were further suggestions for changes and clarifications
Police chief Brian Guy says the update actually started in 2008 but a dispute with the at that time city attornery stopped the process. He also cautioned that with fewer personal the emphasis should be getting people to comply with the rules.
One of the items that drew the most discussion today was the new section limiting the number pets a person can own to ten.
The committee forwarded the updated ordinance to the committee of the whole for council discussion and public input.
