Fire at apartment complex in Camanche
(Camanche) -- Fire appears accidental due to an electrical issue
An electrical short in a wall is cited as the cause of a fire at the Indian Village Apartments in Camanche.
Camanche fire Department units were dispatched to the apartments and found a one story ten unit building with light smoke coming from a side wall. Access was gained to the wall and the fire was brought under control in about 20 minutes.
The fire caused an estimated $10,000 in damage to the structure and $1,000 to the contents. There were no injures. The owner was insured. The Camanche Fire Department noted there were operating smoke detectors in the residence.
The Camanche Fire Department responded with 2 engine companies, an ambulance, a command vehicle and ten personnel. The Clinton Fire Department responded with mutual aid with a ladder truck and four fire fighters. Mid-American Energy personnel were also on the scene.
