Residents drop local property tax lawsuit
(Clinton) -- Homeowners originally files suit about getting a tax abatement on new homes-but city countered the area was a TIF district instead
A lawsuit about property taxes filed against the city of Clinton has been dismissed by the plaintiffs in the case.
The suit was filed by several residents in the Mill Creek Crossing housing development. The dispute was based on property tax abatements the homeowners claimed they should receive versus the city’s argument the area was a ‘tax increment financing district’ and those property taxes had been promised to the developer to pay for infrastructure.
The motion for dismissal was filed by the residents –including Ed and Diane O’Neil, Jack Eads, Gerald and Cheryle Vilmont and on behalf of others in early August.
No other details were included in that motion in early August.
