Warm Wednesday-but not a record
(Clinton & Iowa) -- Wednesday's high temperature was 81
Yesterday in Clinton the official high was 81 – but Clinton weather observer Jim Blaess says it was NOT a record for the date. He says the record high for October 24th is 83 set in 1963.
Blaess did add that it was significant because it is the latest date for an 80 or higher temperature in 23 years since it was 80 on October 24th in 1989.
He says the normal high for today is 60 and the average low is 39.

The weather will be changing with readings in the 40s and 50s will be more common today. National Weather Service Meteorologist Kevin Skow (rhymes with COW) says some Iowans even woke up to snow this morning. "Areas of northwest Iowa did see some snow this morning, basically northwest of a line from Storm Lake," Skow said. "Some areas are reporting about half-an-inch of snow."
That snow is not expected to move into other parts of the state, but the cold front will gradually drop temperatures statewide.
The snow and rain that have accompanied the cold front are expected to move out of the state, but the cold and windy conditions will persist overnight. Skow expects lows in the lower 20s in northwest Iowa to the mid 30s in southeast Iowa. Wind gusts could reach 35 miles per hour. Chilly, but dry conditions are expected through the weekend and into early next week.
