Meetings this week

(Clinton area) -- Clinton School Board and Clinton City Council highlight the meeting this week-see the tentative schedule of meetings

The Clinton County Board of Supervisors will begin their meeting at 9 a.m. today (Mon) in the Board Office of the County Administration building. The meeting will begin with the Certificates of Election and the swearing in of newly elected and re-elected county officials, followed by the Oath of Office. The regular business meeting will being at 9:15

The Clinton City Capital Improvement Committee meets this afternoon (Monday) at 3 pm. The committee will consider approval of the engineer departments capital plans, including street improvements.

The committee has been meeting to review capital spending plans, but often questioned approving plans with only limited resource available.

Members of the Clinton Community School Board will meet at 5:30 today (Monday) at Clinton High School.

The Board will consider requesting a waiver from the Iowa Department of Education to start the 2013-2014 school year during the week of August 12, 2013.

Activities director Gary Lueders will present to the board an update on the progress of determining a process for recognition of significant individuals and their contributions to athletics at Clinton High School.

The Clinton City Council meets Tuesday in their regular session. The council will consider approval of the plan to use the city’s Human Resource Consultant to start the process to search for a new city administrator. The idea was approved at the discussion session a couple of weeks ago. The council accepted the resignation of City Administrator Jeffrey Horne at that meeting after requesting his resignation earlier.

The council will also meet their committee of the whole session. At that portion of the meeting the Clinton School District has indicated they would like to meet with the council to discuss ideas for the sewer system access at the site for the new middle school.

The Clinton Library Board will meet Tuesday at 5:15 in their business session. The meeting will be held at the Main Library

On Wednesday members of the Wellness Committee of the River Bend School Board will meet at 3:30 at the District Office. The purpose of the meeting will be to generate ideas to make lunch more desirable to students. The committee will also explore options and alternatives for school lunch that are in compliance with State standards. They also will take a look at neighboring school lunch programs.

The committee will then make recommendations to the River Bend School Board.

Members of the Northeast School Board will meet at 6 Wednesday evening in the High School medial center. The Board will receive a report on the High School addition. Board members will consider the approval of the Early Retirement incentive plan and will also consider approval of Administrative Recommendations for employment. They also will consider setting the date, time and location of a special January Board of Education meeting.

The Clinton County Solid Waste Commission meets Thursday in their regular monthly session.
