Meetings this week

(Clinton area) -- Here is a tentative schedule of meetings this week with the Clinton City Council starting a budget review and a regular business meeting on the schedule.

The regular Monday business session of the Clinton County Board starts at 9:15 at the County Administration Building.

Among the agenda items is a first consideration of a ‘social host’ ordinance at 9:30. That proposal would impact the owners of property where there is an underage drinking party. At 9:45 the board will consider a final reading of a ‘peddlers, solicitors and transient merchants ordinance.

The board will continue budget presentations from the various departments and agencies as part of the meeting on Monday and also hold budget meetings on Tuesday and Friday this week.

The Clinton City Council will start their review of the budget on Monday. The meeting will be on Monday at 3 pm at city hall. Budget meetings are also scheduled for January 28th and 30th with other meetings to be held in February. Up to six meetings are expected on the budget.

Members of the Fulton City Council will meet at 5:30 at City Hall on Monday. They will consider an emergency operations plan, including an emergency siren, a generator for the Robert Fulton Center, and mobile radios. The City council will consider an economic development consulting agreement. A closed session will be held to discuss the sale or lease of municipally owned property.

Members of the Camanche School Board will meet at 7:30 this evening at the Camanche Administrative Center.

Relay for Life has submitted a request to use school facilities on August 2nd and 3rd. That item will be considered tonight.

The Camanche City Council also meets on TUESDAY evening at six o’clock. The council will get an update on the special election being held to fill a vacancy on the council. Under new business, Gary Kampe has requested the council consider a Second Amendment Preservation Ordinance.

The Clinton City Council regular meeting is Tuesday evening at 7 o’clock. Among the items on the agenda is the resolution to formally appoint Finance Director Jessica Kinser as the interim city administrator during the search for a new administrator. Also the council will formally approve the appointment of the search committee that was selected at a work session last week. The council will also consider a resolution to approve the agreement with the Clinton Humane Society. In separate resolutions the council will consider appointing a committee to discuss a potential new agreement with the Humane Society as proposed by a representative the organization. Another action would approve continuing to pursue an agreement for services with a local veterinarian who has proposed to provide the state mandated animal control service at a lower cost.

During the Committee of the Whole Session the council is scheduled to discuss potential settlements in a couple of legal cases filed against the city.

The Riverbend School Board has their monthly meeting on Tuesday evening at 6:30. A report on enrollment trends and budget issues are among the items on the agenda.

The Riverbend School Board is also meeting on Wednesday at 6:30 for the Superintendent’s evaluation.

The board will also be meeting next Monday-the 28th at 6:30 for a session on financial planning and personnel.

The Clinton City Council City Services Committee is scheduled to meet on Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock.

The committee will be asked for commitment to build a new lab at the Wastewater Treatment plant plus the committee will review the marina operations, police department storage needs, an update on a study on solid waste and an update on the idea of pursuing a ban on trains sounding horns at some local crossings.
