Snow amount released
(Clinton) -- Snowfall was less than the predictions-
Clinton area weather observer James Blaess reports the area received 2 inches of snow in the Thursday-Friday storm.
That brings to 3-point-3 inches the total amount of snow for February. The total for the snow season from October to today (Friday) is 10.9 inches. Blaes says the normal snowfall from October thru the end of February is nearly 26 inches. He says for the total season of October through April the normal snow total is 30 inches.
The most snow in a 24 hour period this winter is 4.5 inches on December 20th.
Despite the lack of snow, Blaess says the area is actually ahead of the normal amount of precipitation because of several ‘rain events.’ He says the February precipitation is nearly 1.4 inches which about a tenth of inch below normal for the month. The year to date precipitation is about 3.3 inches while the normal would be about 2.9 inches of precipitation.
