There’s some fine-tuning being done to a proposal to allow the Clinton Recreation Department to sell sponsorships such as fence signs and signs on concession stands. Clinton Recreation Department Director Greg Obren said there is $27,000 income in this year’s buget and $30,000 in next year’s budget in the program. He said already this year they have about $12,000 ‘sold’ in sponsorships such as names on t-shirts for some of the programs.
Council member John Rowland was cautious about going to far and it could become a “clutter issue.”
The list of spaces where ads would be allowed was narrowed during the discussion and Obrenn will bring the idea back to the council.
Obren said that since this was a new idea he wanted to make sure there was enough time for public comment.

Clinton City officials are looking to establish rules for using the city ‘paddle wheel’ logo. City Interim City Administrator Jessica Kinser told the council at their meeting this week they are working on guidelines.
Kinser said before the city must also determine if the originator of the logo has a copyright before the city could copyright the logo and formally approve the policy. The council approved the policy contingent on that ability to copyright the logo.
The city proposed policy was developed using several other city and state policies.
