Clinton to host ‘Mainly Marathon’ again (link included to event details)

Clinton will be hosting the Mainly Marathons for the second year in a row. The organization holds 5-K, half-marathon and marathons in a series of states over consecutive days.  ‘Read more’ for details.
Clinton Convention and Visitors Bureau Director Carrie Donaire says the group was here last year and will be back this summer.
Donaire says the organization added Fulton for their Illinois run on June 4th and will then be in Clinton on June 5th. She says if you see a lot of out of town license plates make sure you help them find their way around the area.
Donaire says the Mainly Marathon event will be Clinton the same day as the Finally Friday event and other activities. The C-V-B Director says they are helping them to make connections to what they want to do in the community after they are done running.
The C-V-B Director says having the organization come in consecutive years is a testament to volunteers and the welcome they received last year.
The run will take place along the riverfront in Fulton and Clinton.
Donaire says last year Clinton was one of five runs in five states in five days and this year the Clinton run is one of a series of seven states in seven days.                     Donaire says many of the runners fly from around the country and internationally for the events and have a goal is run a marathon in each of the 50 states and this is a cost effective way to do it.
Donaire says the Clinton and Fulton Chambers are collaborating on hosting the Mainly Marathons.
The Heartland series started June 1st in Bryan, Ohio followed by Niles, Michigan, North Liberty Indiana and then Fulton on the June 4th and Clinton on June 5th then Prairie Du Chien Wisconsin and finishing June 7th in Winona, Minnesota.
