Arrest made in Camanche burglary & robbery

A Clinton man was arrested on Wednesday evening and charged in connection to a burglary and robbery that took place on Thursday, September, 17th, 2015 in the city of Camanche, IA. ‘Read more’ for the complete statement from the Camanche Police Department

Jakob Allen Namer, 18, was arrested on a warrant and has been charged with 1st Degree Robbery and 1st Degree Burglary and is being held on a $50,000 bond.

On 09-17-15 at approximately 0745 hrs, Asst Chief Bill Lodge responded to a burglary in progress at a residence in the 1200 block of 23rd Ave in Camanche, IA. The victim indicated that when she went out to her vehicle that was parked in the garage that is attached to her residence, she observed a subject, later identified as Jakob Namer, in the passenger side of her vehicle. The victim opened the driver side door of the vehicle and asked the subject what he was doing. Namer exited the vehicle and walked towards the back of the garage near the exit. The victim followed him at which time the victim observed Namer to be holding a hunting style knife with a blade she described as being 4-6” long. The victim indicated that Namer nodded his head towards the knife as he stated that she needed to let him leave. The victim called for her husband, who came out to the garage and observed Namer to be holding a knife as well as having several other knives in his pants pockets. Namer placed items taken from the victim’s vehicle, on top of a garbage can in the garage before fleeing.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
