CRDC Director reports increasing interest in Clinton

The Clinton Regional Development Corporation has seen an increase in interest in expanding and locating business in the area.

C-R-D-C Director Erin Cole updated the Clinton County Board on the agency’s work during their Monday meeting.  She said there’s been an ‘uptick’ in inquiries. Some of those have come from local companies looking to expand but the majority have been new companies.   Cole said there are nine active projects on the C-R-D-C list.  Cole said 5 to 6 of the active projects need rail.  She says the size and types vary from 50 to 120 jobs.

Cole said there’s also been an increase in site visits with three being held since she started last fall.  Cole added that site visits are important because it means the company is more seriously looking at Clinton.

Cole said the C-R-D-C continues to consider constructing a ‘spec building’ that would be a larger size than what is available now.

The Clinton Regional Development Corporation Director said new marketing efforts are getting underway.  One of those efforts are updates and upgrades to the website including ways to check out various maps and data about the area.  Cole said other locations have these tools on the website and we have to keep up.  Also, Cole says there will be ways for the agency to track who is looking at the site to be able to follow up with that business or site locater.

Cole said the agency is reactive now and she hopes to become pro-active in seeking out leads.

Cole said the C-R-D-C will be kicking off a new fundraising campaign later this year as the last campaign expires at the end of this year.

The CRDC’s Andy Sokolovich also updated the Supervisors on the success of the Home Base Iowa Program to attract military personnel to locate in Clinton County after retirement or discharge.  The County and other communities offer various incentives as part of the incentives.
