CCC to host Visiting Artist Series

Clinton Community College is pleased to announce upcoming performances for the 2018-19 Visiting Artist season. This is the 45TH year that CCC has offered these performances for the community as part of the Quad Cities Arts, a program that strives to make the program accessible to people of all walks of life, including students, seniors, and working people. Performances will be held in both Clinton and in Maquoketa throughout the year.

Scheduled performances include:

 Turtle Island Quartet – Tuesday, October 2, 2018 – 7:00 p.m. – CCC Technology Center, 1951 Manufacturing Drive, Clinton, IA.

Since its inception in 1985, the Turtle Island Quartet has been a singular force in the creation of bold, new trends in chamber music for strings.  Winner of the 2006 and 2008 Grammy Awards for Best Classical Crossover Album, Turtle Island fuses the classical quartet aesthetic with contemporary American musical styles.

Jason Vieaux – Tuesday, November 27, 2018 – 7:00 p.m. – CCC Technology Center, 1951 Manufacturing Drive, Clinton, IA.

Grammy-winner Jason Vieaux is “among the elite of today’s classical guitarists” (Gramophone). NPR describes Vieaux as, “perhaps the most precise and soulful classical guitarist of his generation.” His most recent solo album, PLAY, won the 2015 Grammy Award for Best Classical Instrumental Solo.

Marian Anderson String Quartet – Wednesday, March 27, 2018 – Noon – CCC Technology Center, 1951 Manufacturing Drive, Clinton, IA.

This performance will be part of ENCORE – ENrichment COurses for REtirees held from 8:30 – 2:00 p.m. Call 563-244-7100 to register for this free day of information and entertainment.

As winners of the 2008 Chamber Music America Guarneri String Quartet Award, the Marian Anderson String Quartet is at home in both the concert hall and the classroom.  With venues from the Library of Congress to soup kitchens and juvenile correction facilities, the Marian Anderson String Quartet continues to uphold its mission to create new audiences for American Chamber music.
