The Morrison Chamber of Commerce is proud to present the 2nd Annual Back to School Bash on Saturday, August 13. This FREE, family event will be held from 2-4 p.m. at the Morrison Institute of Technology, 701 Portland Avenue, Morrison.
Exhibitor booths featuring many Chamber of Commerce members will be open during the event, and each exhibitor will have a hands-on activity or game for participants, as well as information about their business.
Upon entrance, each child will be given the opportunity to sign up to win one of several backpacks filled with school supplies, as well as two additional grand prizes – a limo ride to lunch at DQ Grill and Chill in Morrison for the student and four of his/her friends or a Family Fun Pack for four to the Whiteside County Fair. In addition, each family will receive a card to bring to the exhibitor booths. Once completed, these cards will be entered into a drawing for a gift card to Morrison businesses. Bounce houses, ambulance tours, snowcones, face painting, and balloon animals will also be available.
“Last year’s event was VERY successful, with more than 200 children (ages 0-10) and their families in attendance!” said Chamber Board President, Scott Stocker. “We are excited to bring this event back this year!”
At the end of the event, the Chamber of Commerce will draw for the backpacks and hold the breaking of the piggy banks to see who wins the grand prize in their “Break the Bank” 50/50 Raffle, a fundraiser to go towards community projects, such as Movie in the Park and other beautification efforts around Morrison. Raffle tickets will be on sale through August 12 and can be purchased at the Chamber Office, 221 W. Main Street, Morrison (from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday through Friday) or at U.S. Cellular, Hardee’s, Hero’s, or thecity1.com, all located in Morrison. Tickets are $1 for 1 ticket or $5 for 6 tickets.
