The Sheffey family will be performing at an ice cream social on June 26, 2016 at 2:00pm in the courtyard in downtown Mt. Carroll.

Plenty of homemade pies with cool, creamy ice cream will be available along with root beer floats. The proceeds will benefit Great River Outreach.  This is one event you won’t want to miss!  Rain location: First Lutheran Sanctuary, 301 South Clay Street.  Questions, call the church office at 815.244.8044.  This event has been made possible in part by funds from the City of Mount Carroll and Thrivent Financial.

JoLyn Kruse will open the program performing a few of her own favorites.

Steve Sheffey, of Pearl City, and his daughters, Lauren Sheffey, of Chicago, and Sarah Benefial, of Freeport, will be performing songs from their repertoire which includes country, gospel, and pop, both a capella and with accompaniment.  While the group emphasizes strong harmonies, each of the singers is an accomplished soloist in his/her own right.  Steve’s wife, Janis, capably serves as the group’s sound technician and might join them in song for a number or two.

Steve Sheffey has been performing all types of music for 30 plus years with the focus on contemporary Christian, gospel, country, big band, and oldies.  He likes to incorporate his trumpet with his music.  He very much enjoys performing with his family.

Sarah Benefial grew up singing with her family.  As a soloist, she shares her musical talents with the community, performing often at church and at many weddings.  Sarah, a graduate of Rockford College, is married now with her own family.  She is a member of the Pearl City United Methodist Praise Team and works at Midwest Bank in Freeport.

Lauren Sheffey also grew up singing with her family.  She is currently working in the restaurant business.

JoLyn Kruse hales from Lanark and is a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.  She has many years of musical experience as a music teacher, choir director, accompanist, and soloist.   She is currently the Transportation Director for Carroll County Transit.  With her trusty twelve string guitar in hand, JoLyn will add further variety to the program with a repertoire that includes both Christian and secular tunes.  Young and old alike will find the program very inspiring.
