On Tuesday, Oct. 1, from 6:30 to 7:30 PM, Odell Public Library invites you to attend “Illinois Memoirs: Some Fascinating Personal Accounts” in the program room at the library, 307 S. Madison St., Morrison, IL.
Illinois has a remarkable tradition of memoirs, ranging from books by frontier figures including Chief Black Hawk and Eliza Farnham to later works by leaders such as U. S. Grant and Jane Addams. Illinois literary scholar and historian Dr. John Hallwas will briefly depict a dozen memoirs from various eras of our state’s heritage. He will also explore the nature and value of autobiographies and encourage people to write about their own experiences. If you are interested in Illinois history or have considered writing your own life story, this is the program for you! This free presentation is made possible by a grant from the Illinois Humanities Road Scholars Speakers Bureau.
Reservations are encouraged but are not required for this program. Please call the library at 815 772 7323 to reserve your seat.
