Friday, July 27th ~ Voyageur Canoe Trip ~ 9 AM ~ Princeton River Drive Boat Ramp (411 River Dr.) ~
The Voyageur Canoes are ready for another adventure
down the Mississippi River. We’ll stick mainly to the backwater areas but visit the edge of the main channel as we make our way from Rock Creek Marina & Campground to our takeout at Princeton, Iowa’s River Drive Boat Ramp. Since we’re meeting there at 9 AM our vehicles will already be waiting there for us.
We plan to visit Princeton Beach at the lower end of Steamboat Island for a brief leg stretcher before finishing the trip. You’ll learn of the Meskwaki (Fox & Sac) people who populate these lands before white settlement, the early French who first explored this territory and traded
with its people and the American frontiersmen who concurred and settled it.
