Still time to file nomination petitions for local elections

Potential candidates for the Clinton School Board have until September 16th to file nomination papers.

There are four seats available on the ballot and 3 of the members in those seats are NOT running again.

Ann Reed – is running again.  But Eric Gettes, Scott Bengtson and Missey Sullivan-Pope have announced they will not be running for new terms.

Candidates need 50 signatures on the nomination petitions.  Potential candidates should check with the School District Administrative Office for petitions and information.

There are five seats on the ballot for the Clinton City Council and September 16th is also the deadline to file nomination petitions.

On the ballot are the seats in Ward 1 – held currently by Corey Robinson;  Ward 2 – urrently held by Cody Seeley; Ward 3 – currently held by Ron Mussmann plus two At-Large Seats currently held by Sean Connell and Bill Schemers.

City officials say while Corey Robinson and Ron Mussmen were both appointed, the seats they were appointed to would have been on the ballot this fall regardless. Only the appointment for 2nd Ward would fall under the unique provision that whomever wins the election would start prior to January 1.

One candidate has submitted papers to run for an At-Large Council seat.  Nancy Witt, 1208 N. 4th St. submitted the paperwork to the City Clerk at Clinton City Hall.

September 16th is the deadline to file nomination petitions for any city council or school board election to be held November 2nd this year.
