White Supremacy and American Christianity (online forum) presented by the Clinton Sisters of St. Francis

The past several years have brought back to the surface a deep cancer of white supremacy and white Christian nationalism in our nation. It’s time we dig deeply into the Christian roots of this reality so that we can root it out of our own traditions and communities.

That’s why we are excited to partner with NETWORK Lobby for Catholic Social Justice to invite you to participate in White Supremacy and American Christianity: A Conversation with Robert P. Jones and Fr. Bryan Massingale, a half-day virtual conference on Saturday, April 9, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Central.

Fr. Bryan Massingale, the premiere voice on racial justice and the Catholic Church, will join Robert P. Jones, whose recent book White Too Long: The Legacy of White Supremacy in American Christianity, offers critical historical and present context for the rise of public white supremacy in the United States.

Following a conversation between these two scholars, Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Marcia Chatelain will offer a response and participants will have the opportunity to engage in small group conversations.

We hope you can join us and faith-based justice advocates across the nation for this important conversation as we explore together what we can — and must — do to address white supremacy in our nation.
