Scholarship Application

The Whiteside County Natural Area Guardians, a committee of the Whiteside County Soil and Water Conservation District, will offer a scholarship to college students who are pursuing a degree in the area of conservation and/or environmental science. The scholarships are available for the student’s junior year and will be subject for renewal for the student’s senior year at an institution of higher learning. First consideration is given to students who reside in Whiteside County.
Scholarships will be paid directly to the educational institution and will be renewable on a one-time basis at the discretion of the scholarship committee. Awards will be made after the following instructions have been completed and submitted for consideration:
1. Completed application form by May 1st prior to student’s junior year
2. Copy of the applicant’s most recent transcript
3. Two letters of recommendation from individuals other than a relative of the applicant (Forms are included in the application form and should be sent directly from the individual writing the recommendation).,
4. A. If the applicant is transferring to a college other than the one in which
he is currently enrolled, a copy of the letter of acceptance or admission must be sent, OR
B. If the applicant is already enrolled in the school in which he plans to continue study, a letter from the college must be sent stating that the applicant is a student in good standing

All of the above information will be considered in determining the recipients of the scholarship awards. If there is not sufficient space to answer any question, attach a separate sheet of paper to the application. ALL APPLICATIONS WILL BE HELD IN STRICT CONFIDENCE. A personal interview may be requested at a later time. Scholarship recipients may be asked to submit a photo for newspaper release.
