Clinton Community School District Names David Hlas as Director of Student Services

CLINTON, IA – April 27, 2026 – The Clinton Community School District is pleased to announce the appointment of David Hlas as the District’s new Director of Student Services. Hlas, a veteran educator with 21 years of experience, will oversee the District’s special education programming, student support systems, and comprehensive services for students and families.
Hlas joins Clinton Schools from the West Branch Community School District, where he currently serves as the Elementary Principal at Hoover Elementary. His extensive leadership background includes a previous tenure as the Director of Special Services in Bettendorf. In that capacity, he was responsible for managing districtwide student support initiatives and specialized educational programming.
“David brings a wealth of knowledge and a deep commitment to student achievement to our administrative team,” said Superintendent Dr. Wes Golden. “His expertise in Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) and his proven ability to build collaborative, relationship-based environments will be invaluable as we continue to enhance our services for all learners.”
Throughout his career, Hlas has served as a special education teacher and elementary principal, consistently focusing on creating systems that meet the diverse needs of students. He holds two master’s degrees, one in Special Education and one in Educational Administration, and maintains an active Iowa Professional Administrator License.
“I am honored to join Clinton Schools as Director of Student Services,” said Hlas. “I look forward to partnering with staff, students, and families to support student success and strengthen services across the district.”
Hlas and his wife, Tara, a Veterinary Technician, have two sons, Noah and Gracen.
