Only 5 Polling Locations to Open in Clinton County for the 2020 Primary Election (sites and precincts included)

Vote absentee ballot by mail – that advice is being stressed for the June 2nd Primary.

Clinton County Elections Commissioner Eric Van Lancker says the number of polling locations have been reduced from the usual 26 to five due to the corona virus pandemic. He said they looked at schools for the sites so there could be larger areas in the gyms or cafeterias to allow for social distancing while voting.

The locations to vote in person are the Calamus-Wheatland High School, Central DeWitt High School, Camanche High School, Jefferson and Eagle Heights Elementary Schools in Clinton

But-Van Lancker prefers you vote via mail with the absentee ballot.

Van Lancker says the absentee ballot request form is available thru his office and the State Secretary Of State is mailing all registered voters a request form to encourage the mail in vote.

Van Lancker says the number of polling locations could be reduced further dependent on availability of poll workers and other factors.  The Elections Commissioners says other safety steps will be taken for the safety of poll workers and voters.

There are plans being developed to have the in-person absentee ballot voting because Van Lancker says it is part of the requirements.

Van Lancker says the Clinton County office is collaborating with the Scott County Auditor’s Office in case one of the offices may have to close or have to close due to coronavirus issues.

Van Lancker updated the County Board at a recent meeting on the voting plans.
