Clinton County Opens Buildings to Public with Caution

(official County Statement) –   The Clinton County Board of Supervisors decided Tuesday, June 9, that Clinton County buildings will be open to the public for regular business hours starting Monday, June 15.

County buildings were closed March 18 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, the County has been making modifications to the building in preparation to open to the public while the pandemic continues.

All offices were outfitted with glass barriers at counters where staff interacts with the public. Offices have also been provided with a supply of personal protective equipment, hand sanitizer and disinfectant.

The County buildings that will open on Monday include the County Administration Building, the County Law Center and the County Satellite Office in DeWitt. However, there are a couple of exceptions to those openings:

  • The Clerk of Courts Office will not be open to the public until further notice
  • The County Treasurer’s Office in the Satellite Office in DeWitt will open June 23 at 8:30 a.m. with new hours. The hours will be 8:30 a.m.-11 a.m. and noon to 4 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday and Wednesday from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m.

The public is not required to wear face masks into the building, but are encouraged to do so if they choose. Hand sanitizer will also be located around the building for public use. Social distancing while in the County buildings will also be encouraged.
