‘3M School Days’ Help Supply Local Schools

Some of the region’s schools got to stock up on office supplies today compliments of the 3-M company in Cordova, Illinois.  One of the organizers says about 80 schools confirmed they would stop today (Wednesday) to pick up the supplies but there could another 20 schools coming.  The region covers much of the Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois area.

Susan Wheeler an engineer at the 3M plant and member of the 3M Club organizing the give-away says the schools are nominated by employees.

Wheeler says when the program started in 2015 schools could go in the warehouse and pick the supplies.  But this year due to the COVID health pandemic the employees packaged bags for the schools. Employees could  place them in the vehicles and keep social distancing and other safety measures.

Wheeler says it’s rewarding to be able to help

The two bags of supplies per building include about 40 pounds of supplies including all types of 3M products from glue sticks to command hangers, scotch tape, post it notes and many other items.

When the program started in 2015-Wheeler says there were 50 schools nominated.

Iowa schools include Clinton, Camanche, LeClaire, Bettendorf, Davenport, Buffalo, Preston, Miles, DeWitt, Muscatine and Goose Lake.  Illinois schools include Savanna, Rock Falls, Fulton, Morrison, Kewanee, East Moline, Carbon Cliff, Walnut, Polo, Moline, Wyanet, Silvis, Erie, Rock Island, Port Byron Prophetstown, Hampton.
