There was a record high on December 23 & how many times has there been a ‘White Christmas’

There was a record high temperature in Clinton on Wednesday.  Local weather observer Jim Blaess says high was 60 and that broke the record of 59 set in 1941.

Blaess did point out that last year on Christmas eve it was 58.  That was not a record for the 24th that is 61 degrees.  On Christmas day 2019, Blaess said it was warmest Christmas Day in Clinton with a high of 62 which broke the record of 56 set in 1982.

With the definition of one-inch snow on the ground to be a White Christmas, the weather observer says there is a less than a 50 percent chance from a historical perspective.

Blaess says since 1920 there have been 46 years with a White Christmas and 54 without.  Blaess says the last time there was a White Christmas in Clinton was 2017.
