Council Vacancy Filled

Clinton City Council members chose a former member to fill a vacancy in the Second Ward Seat.

Four people applied to fill the spot left vacant with the resignation of a Cyara Petersen.

After interviewing the candidates Thursday – council-members chose to go into a closed session to discuss the candidates and then returned to open session and voted to select Cody Seeley for the spot.  Seeley had served one term on the council -losing a re-election bid for the at-large seat he held in 2019.  The other applicants included Rick Petersen, Hope Luce and Richard Sisneros.

The council is scheduled to approve a formal resolution appointing Seeley to the post at a special meeting on February 4th and he would then be sworn into office at that time.

The Second Ward seat would be on the ballot this November to fill the remaining two years on the council.  During the interview Seeley said he would be running in the election.
