October Temperature & Precipitation Averaged Above Normal

October ended among the warmest and the wettest in Clinton weather records.

Clinton area official weather observer Jim Blaess says the overall temperature averaged 59 degrees and that’s above the historical average of 52.9.  Blaess says 2021 will be the 10th warmest October in Clinton records to 1879.

The weather observer said the warmest day was the 1st with a high of 86.  Blaess says the lowest reading was 30 on the 23rd and that was the 8th warmest low in an October since 1891.

Precipitation recorded by Blaess was 5.24 inches which was 2.8 inches above the normal of 2.44 inches.  Blaess says 2.37 inches of the precipitation came in a 24 hour period over the 24th and 25th.  He says that’s the 9th most precipitation in a 24 hour period in an October since 1879.  Overall, Blaess says October 2021 will be 15th wettest in records to 1879.

In November, Blaess says you can expect 2.12 inches of precipitation including 1.6 inches of snow.  The weather observer said the average high on November 1st is 57 and the low is 38 and those fall to averages of 40 and 24 by the end of the month.

Blaess added November 2020 was the 4th warmest on record.   Blaess noted the month had 8 days with 70 or above temperatures and those were in a row.
