Warm & Dry Period

The meteorological fall in Clinton had above normal temperatures and below normal precipitation.

The September–October-November period had among the driest months on record and warmest on record according to official weather observer Jim Blaess.

He says the three-month period overall temperature was about 4 degrees above normal.  Blaess added that included 4th warmest September and 10th warmest October in Clinton weather records to 1879.

Blaess said the precipitation over the period was about 1-point-5 inches below normal and could have been further below normal except for a wet October.  He says September was the 10th driest and November the 7th driest in Clinton records with October the 8th wettest since 18779.  During the three month period Blaess says there was a trace of snow.
