Clinton School OK’s Contract With Education Assocation & Approves An Extra Incentive For All Employees

The Clinton School Board approved a three percent increase to the base wage and extra compensation for the school teachers.  In addition, there is a 14-hundred dollar increase for returning teachers.

Clinton School Superintendent Gary DeLacy said it was based on the money approved in state aid.

The members of the Clinton Education Association have approved the contract.  The School Board approved the contract at the Monday evening meeting.

DeLacy said contracts would be issued later this week.

Another financial measure aimed at employees as a recruitment and retention effort was approved.  The state approved a one-thousand dollar bonus for this school year for teachers.  Superintendent Gary DeLacy noted that did not cover all teachers and at a previous meeting the board approved the bonus using local funds for a other teaching staff.  This additional pay is for all employees for the next school year.

The measure approved by the board would be an 800 dollar payment for certified staff, administrators and 12 month employees and 500 dollars for classified staff on 9 month contracts.

DeLacy says half the additional pay would be paid at the beginning of the school year and the remainder paid at the end of the year.

The funds would be paid from the some of the federal pandemic funds the district received.
