Fire at Alverno Senior Care

The Clinton Fire Department responded to a reported fire in a laundry room at Alverno Senior Care, 849 13th Avenue North at 1515 hours.

Prior to the arrival of fire department personnel, a police officer on scene extinguished the fire with a portable fire extinguisher. An automatic sprinkler also activated in the area.

Firefighters arrived and confirmed the fire was extinguished. Crews encountered heavy smoke conditions in the affected area and worked to remove the remaining smoke and secure the sprinkler system. The fire was contained to the laundry room.

Residents were evacuated from the affected section of the third floor, while other occupants were sheltered in place. No injuries were reported.

Firefighters also checked the building for fire, smoke, and water damage before turning the scene over to facility administration and maintenance personnel. The Clinton Fire Department responded with a ladder truck, 2 engines and 3 ambulances for a total of 13 personnel. The fire was determined to have originated in a wall mounted fan in the laundry room.
