Slow Delivery Of Covid Vaccines Impact Local Efforts

Clinton County Public Health Manager Michelle Cullen says the rate of increase of coronavirus cases locally has been slowing.  She also reported the hospitalizations related to the virus have also been stable.

Cullen reported to the County Board today (Monday) the latest report showed four hospitalizations at MercyOne locally and 32 at Genesis and the region’s report has been stable for several days.

Cullen said the public health department has given 1,925 vaccines and that is mainly in the category of 1A health care workers.  She said most of the long term care facilities vaccinations are wrapping up one dose and some may be on the second dose.

Cullen said it is unknown when the department can move to the next phase of the vaccination plan.

Cullen said the state has reported counties should receive a small allocation this week-but she’s not sure what that number may be.

Cullen urges people to be patient.

The Supervisors also voted to re-open Administration Building to the public February but also encouraging the public to continue use online services and drop box at the building.

County Treasurer Dustin Johnson said the satellite office in DeWitt will return to the Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday hours when the Administration Building closes.
