Clinton County On The Edge Of Winter Storm Area

Tonight, winter weather advisories and warnings go into effect this evening for locations roughly south of Highway 30. A wintry mix of freezing rain, sleet and snow will eventually create snow and ice covered and hazardous roadways. Ice accumulations of up to a tenth of an inch are likely. In the wake of the cold front, north winds will gust to around 35 mph. Isolated thunder is also possible this evening across southeastern Iowa, far northeast Missouri and west central Illinois.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN…THURSDAY THROUGH TUESDAY

Winter weather advisories and warnings are in effect through Thursday for locations roughly south of Highway 30.  Light freezing rain, freezing drizzle and sleet are possible early Thursday morning leading to slippery travel for the Thursday morning commute. By mid morning Thursday through Thursday afternoon, snow is anticipated to overspread much of the area from around the Interstate 80 corridor on southward. The snow could be heavy at times with snowfall rates around 1 inch per hour, especially over far southeast Iowa, northeast Missouri and portions of west central Illinois. This combined with winds gusting to 35 mph could result in difficult travel conditions in tythese areas.
