Clinton Shootings Update

On July 3, 2023 the Clinton Police Department released information to the public and other police departments identifying Randy Allen Jackson as a suspect involved in two recent shootings which occurred on July 2, 2023 at 08:34 P.M. and July 3, 2023 at 12:42 A.M.

With the assistance from the Division of Criminal Investigation, the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, Clinton County Communications, Davenport Police Department, Moline Illinois Police Department, and Danville Illinois Police Department a vehicle associated with Randy Allen Jackson was located in Danville Illinois.

Officers and Deputies from the Illinois State Police, Vermilion County Sheriff’s Office, Champaign County Sheriff’s Office and Danville Police Department located and pursued Randy Allen Jackson as he attempted to flee in a vehicle from law enforcement officers. During the vehicle pursuit Randy Allen Jackson fled from the vehicle on foot and was located a short time later by an officer with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources in a detached garage near the intersection of Homer Lake Road and County Road 2250 East, south of St. Joseph, IL.

Randy Allen Jackson engaged in a standoff and SWAT and crisis negotiators were called to the scene. Randy Allen Jackson refused to comply and a trooper discharged their firearm striking Randy Allen Jackson. Randy Allen Jackson was transported to Carle Foundation Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 6:03 A.M. on Tuesday July 4, 2023.

*criminal charges are merely an accusation and all suspects are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
