Ribbon cutting for the Leonard Crunelle WWI Statue

A formal ribbon cutting took place on Memorial Day for the World War One statue on the Clinton Riverfront-erected about 103 years ago.  (see images of the statue below)

Clinton City Administrator Matt Brooke-a military veteran – detailed the origin of the statue.  He said a community fundraising effort that in today’s dollars would have been about 900-thousand dollars paid for the statue.

Brooke noted that it was a Clinton County monument honoring all veterans from the county who served in World War One.

And Brooke called it a place for citizens to remember all veterans.

The statue has been restored several years ago in an effort led by the city.

Brooke said the local Daughters Of American Revolution led the effort to have a World War One monument.
