Body of missing boater found

SAVANNA, Ill. (KWQC) – The body of a boater in Savanna has been found, according to Carroll County Emergency Management.

Carroll County EMA Director Jim Klinefelter said the body of a man in his 60s was found by Illinois Department of Natural Resources around 9:28 a.m. Tuesday in the area of a weekend boat accident on the Mississippi River.

According to officials, at 5:33 p.m. Saturday officials got a 911 call about a boating accident involving two people.

Officials said one person made it to shore and another was missing in the water.

Crews remained on scene until 11 p.m. Saturday. Officials said search operations resumed at 7 a.m. on Sunday.

They continued their search Monday.

Over 20 agencies assisted in the response efforts, officials said.

Klinefelter said more information is expected to be released later.
