Structure Fire – 6528 44th Avenue South

The Clinton Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire at 6528 44th Avenue South for a reported garage fire that is attached to the house. Low Moore fire was dispatched for mutual aid, and arrived on scene first and began firefighting efforts. The garage was fully involved upon arrival and they began defensive operations. Clinton arrived on scene minutes later assumed command and worked to extinguish the fire for 3.5 hours. Crews transitioned to offensive fire tactics and were able to make a stop on the fire before the residence was a total loss. Rail traffic was shut down for 2.5 hours due to the scene being right next to the tracks, and first responder in the immediate area. The family was displaced from their residence due to the damage, but crews were able to recover valuables and necessities for the family. The residence is valued at $130,000 and $55,000 was saved approximately. The Clinton Fire Department was assisted by Low Moore Fire, Low Moore First Responders, Camanche Fire, Fulton Fire, Goose Lake Fire, Charlotte Fire, Alliant Energy, Clinton County Communications, and 1-800-BoardUp. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
