Skeletal Remains Found

CLINTON, Iowa — Clinton police said they found skeletal remains near railroad tracks in a wooded area on Dec. 31 after receiving a tip.

Officers responded to the area and found evidence of a previous fire, according to the Clinton Police Department.

The remains were removed and sent to the State of Iowa for further examination to determine the type of remains and gather any additional information.

Authorities said they do not believe there is any ongoing threat to the public, based on the evidence obtained.

Police said the investigation remains active, and no further information is being released at this time.
