Traffic Accident with Injuries

On Monday, January 5, 2026, at approximately 7:57 a.m., the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, Mercy One Genesis Ambulance and the DeWitt Fire Department were dispatched to the 3400 block of Highway 30 to a report of a rollover accident in the westbound lanes of traffic. While enroute to the scene, deputies received additional information that an individual had been ejected from the vehicle during the accident.

Upon arrival, deputies located a single vehicle that had rolled and come to rest in the ditch on the north side of the highway. The driver, a seventeen-year-old male, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was found lying on the ground near the vehicle. The driver was transported to Mercy One Genesis Hospital in De Witt for treatment of injuries and then airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics by Iowa Air Care.

The accident remains under investigation by the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office. The Clinton County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Iowa State Patrol, the De Witt Police Department, Iowa Air Care, Mercy One Genesis Ambulance (De Witt), the De Witt Fire Department, and Low Moor First Responders.
